C\u00e0rniques Celr\u00e0<\/strong> has launched the Glicopepton Biotech<\/strong> project, which will allow the transformation of pig mucosa into a high value-added biotechnological product, such as heparin. LMWH (low molecular weight heparin) is an anticoagulant drug used to prevent and treat human venous thromboembolic disease.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The project was born thanks to Rovi’s experience as a leading pharmaceutical company in Spain, and the synergy between Costa Food Group and C\u00e0rniques Celr\u00e0.<\/strong><\/p>

The general manager of C\u00e0rniques Celr\u00e0<\/strong>, Xavier Roca Masmitj\u00e0, points out that “until now, mucus was exported to other countries to obtain heparin. With this initiative, we join forces with the Spanish pharmaceutical industry and the third largest European pork producer to generate heparin in our territory and, thus, strengthen our health resources, which are so essential, as has been evidenced in the recent health crisis caused by COVID-19.” However, he emphasizes that “we are proud to be able to obtain this medicine with the maximum health guarantees and with complete traceability, taking advantage of all the products and providing our industry with high added value.”<\/p>

Glicopepton Biotech<\/strong> will create a structure for research and development that will also value the rest of the products generated in this process so that they can be used as highly nutritious animal feed or organic (non-chemical) fertilizers.<\/p>

The project involves the creation of a plant in the Fraga Industrial Logistics Platform (Huesca), with a surface area of \u200b\u200b25,000 square metres, in which a total of 40 million euros will be invested.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
